Toyta Kee | Director, Currituck Resource Center
Toyta Kee is a passionate community servant leader committed to creating opportunities that empower individuals, strengthen families, and build healthier communities.
Toyta’s work extends across workforce development, community engagement, mental health advocacy, education, and nonprofit leadership. She believes meaningful change happens when communities come together, listen to one another, share resources, and create pathways for people to thrive.
Known for her authenticity, compassion, and willingness to serve, Toyta brings a genuine heart for people and a commitment to creating meaningful connections. As Director of the Currituck Resource Center, she is passionate about connecting people with resources, opportunities, partnerships, and support that can positively impact their lives and the community.
Her leadership is rooted in her faith and her desire to serve others with purpose. She is guided by Galatians 5:13 (KJV): “By love serve one another.” This scripture reflects her heart for serving others not simply as a responsibility, but as a calling to love, encourage, and pour into those around her.
Toyta believes Kingdom impact happens when faith moves beyond words and becomes action when we serve, connect, encourage, empower, and create opportunities that transform lives and strengthen communities. Her desire is to use every relationship, resource, and opportunity entrusted to her to make a meaningful difference and leave a lasting impact for the Kingdom.

Steve Taylor | Board Member, Currituck Resource Center
Steve Taylor is a husband, dad to three girls, and mental health professional serving families in Currituck County. He's been in the field since 2013, working in addiction treatment and private practice with people facing addiction, PTSD, depression, anxiety, and marriage struggles. He's now Lead Clinical Supervisor at Peaceful Waters in Moyock.
Having recovered addiction himself in 2009, and difficult seasons in his family, Steve's passion is helping people find real healing. In 2024, he and his wife had a life-changing encounter with Jesus Christ, which deepened his mission to blend solid mental health care with biblical truth—helping people heal in body, mind, and spirit while pointing them toward Christ.

Trish Garza | Board Member, Currituck Resource Center
Patricia (Trish) Garza, sitting secretary for the Currituck Resource Center, brings a passion for faith-based mental health, drug/ alcohol recovery, and wellness support. A U.S. Army veteran, Trish holds a Master's Degree in Public Health with a focus on health behaviors and is certified in suicide prevention. Trish has recently started serving with the Currituck County Recovery Court and will undergo training to be a sponsor in the near future.
Guided by the military ethos “No man left behind” and her desire to live out 1 Corinthians 16:14 “Let all you do be done in love,” Trish seeks to let every person from every walk of life know that they are never too far gone for the Love of Christ to reach. Her lived experiences reflect a commitment to walking alongside individuals and families on their journey toward healing, recovery, and hope.

Ashley Cox is a North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist who brings compassion, understanding, faith, and lived experience to her work supporting individuals as they navigate challenging seasons of life. Her personal journey through addiction and recovery has given her a deep understanding of the courage it takes to seek help, make changes, and begin again.
Ashley believes recovery is about more than remaining sober—it is about discovering your strengths, rebuilding your life, finding purpose, and recognizing that your past does not have to determine your future. She is passionate about meeting people where they are, without judgment, and walking alongside them as they work toward their own goals and a healthier, more fulfilling life.
Faith is an important part of Ashley’s life and the foundation from which she serves others. Romans 5:8—“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us” is a verse that holds deep personal meaning for Ashley. It reminds her that we do not have to be perfect, have everything figured out, or have our past erased to be worthy of love, grace, and a new beginning. This belief shapes the way Ashley approaches peer support: with compassion rather than judgment, understanding rather than condemnation, and a genuine desire to help others recognize their worth and potential.
Through her personal recovery, leadership in Celebrate Recovery, and professional training as a Certified Peer Support Specialist, Ashley strives to offer hope, encouragement, practical support, and connection to resources. She believes that every person has strengths and potential, even when those qualities may be difficult to see during times of struggle.
In her role at the Currituck Resource Center, Ashley is committed to helping individuals feel heard, supported, and empowered. She works to build trusting relationships, connect individuals with community resources, and provide encouragement as they take steps toward recovery, stability, and a new beginning.
Ashley’s goal is to use both her lived experience and professional training to remind others that they are not defined by their hardest moments, that change is possible, and that they do not have to walk the journey alone.
Ashley Cox
Pastor Craig Sturtz is the Executive Director and Co-Founder of New Creations Ministries, Inc. (NCM), a Christ-centered nonprofit serving discouraged adults who are often in crisis, addiction-affected and/or justice-involved.
Ordained into the Gospel Ministry in 2016 and consecrated to the Office of Pastor in 2017, Craig has a shepherd’s heart and a keen aptitude for leadership, mediation, and guidance, and has ministered in various venues across the eastern US and abroad in Central and South America.
Being endued with a compelling ability to hear God's voice clearly in the moment, his God-given talents enable him to see spiritual blueprints of projects at the onset, allowing him to discern best strategy before making any move. With more than a decade of experience mentoring men in residential recovery, re-entry, and serving alongside leaders in church as well as corporate settings, he brings a steady, discerning presence marked by relational engagement, spiritual formation, and practical life-skills coaching.
Craig has served in a multitude of leadership roles across the nonprofit, church, and business sectors, and currently provides group biblical instruction, one-on-one mentoring, case management, re-entry support and organizational guidance through various local entities.
Frequently sought for mentorship and counsel by those in recovery and re-entry, as well as for guidance and direction by community leaders, pastors, and laypersons, Pastor Craig is committed to helping men build accountability, purpose, and lasting pathways of restoration through Christ-centered service.
Pastor Craig Sturtz
Courtney S. Sturtz, is a missionary pastor who, along with her husband Craig, co-founded New Creations Ministries, Inc. (NCM), a Christ-centered nonprofit recently positioned on the Outer Banks of NC. Ordained and consecrated to the Office of Pastor in 2017, she is a natural leader with a servant’s heart, gifted in teaching, exhortation, strategic intercession, and prophetic ministry. She helps bring light and hope to the discouraged through God’s Word and has ministered both in the US and abroad in churches, jails/prisons, addiction recovery programs, hospitals/institutions, nursing homes, domestic violence shelters, suicide hotlines, and on the highways & byways. She also provides spiritual mentoring, discipleship, and leadership training for individuals and groups.
Alongside her ministry leadership, Courtney brings extensive professional experience in client success management, logistics and operations leadership, training, quality assurance, process improvement, and cross-functional team development in Nonprofit, B2B, D2C, and eCommerce environments. She combines analytical problem-solving, strategic planning, and high emotional intelligence with servant leadership to build strong partnerships, drive operational excellence, and foster personal and professional growth.
Courtney continues her ongoing development studies while remaining actively involved through community outreach, correctional ministry, re-entry support, international missions, and local service.
